Penny Is The Naked Punk

“Why am I The Naked Punk?

Punk is my raw beginning. It saw my writing find a raging home in early fanzines. It fired a freedom in me to start accepting myself, that I was OK as a human being, as a woman, as a creative, who could challenge the categories imposed upon me. It is the energy that triggered my activism, and my passion for social justice and equality.”

Actually Aspling Behind the Mask!

“In my last blog post I spoke briefly about obtaining an official autism diagnosis, this post is going to explore the notion of camouflaging, a key reason as to why so many go undiagnosed and unsupported.

Camouflaging is thought to be a distinct element of the ‘female phenotype‘ of Autism, in which women and girls often display behaviour deemed as socially acceptable to better fit in with society, examples of this can include: mimicking other individuals social behaviour, including gestures and facial expressions, along side following social scripts. Typically, young girls have traditional friendships and may use social imitation as a form of acting as a coping mechanism.”
